John grew up in a home where financial lessons were taught from an early age. He obtained his BSA from Calvin University and his Master of Science in Taxation (MST) from GVSU. John previously worked for Deloitte Tax in the Grand Rapids, Amsterdam, and Washington DC offices, and as a tax partner with Monroe, Sweeris & Tromp CPAs before joining Strategies Wealth Advisors in 2016. John helps guide families on their financial journey by developing bespoke plans, implementing sophisticated planning techniques, and coordinating with outside advisors to efficiently make those plans a reality.
John and his wife Meg have four children. They are active in their parish and enjoy traveling as a family to explore new places. He believes every trip is an opportunity to see new places, meet new people, develop an appreciation for the differences we encounter, and remind us that we live in an amazing world.
